Our first official day of homeschool!

Image
We survived & had an amazing first day! It was a little rough, but I know in time it will be smooth going. Studies show that for a new homeschool family, it can take about 3 months or longer to get things down. Our Junior, 7th Grader & 5th Grader I'm SO thankful we've been blessed with an amazing curriculum, I could use with all three of them! We prayed for, searched hundreds of different curriculum & finally found the perfect match! The "Weaver curriculum" covers Bible, Social Studies/Science, Language Arts & Creative Writing. You need to supplement your own choice of math & reading materials. We went with Teaching Textbooks for their math & a list of reading resources were included in the curriculum that we can get from our local library. My children, especially our youngest (5th grader) couldn't wrap their minds around the fact that there are no "right or wrong" answers! They really struggled, but in time it will come ...

Over 5 months later....

Don't have a heart attack! I'm back, but not sure how much blogging I will actually get to do in the next year or so. My plan is to blog at least once a week, about the events of our lives & homeschooling. However, as most of you know, our plans don't always work out how we plan them out! Because life is tough, but homeschooling is tougher! Allot has happened in the last several months, where do I beginning?! As most of you know, we began our homeschool journey with child #2 in January. It was a difficult adjustment for all involved, especially her! It took so getting use to, but God pulled us through & we has grown ALLOT since then! Now as well approach the middle of July, I'm preparing myself to homeschool the three youngest. God has opened doors to an amazing curriculum that I can use with all three, just on different grade levels. What I love the most about the Weaver is that it takes the Bible & builds from there. We also purchased Teaching Textbooks...

Prayers for Marriage, Parenting & Homeschooling

I came across this today as I was searching for curriculum for the kids next school year. I needed this in a bad way! We've been homeschooling our 2nd oldest for almost a month now & needless to say it's been a challenge!  To be honest, I've allowed doubt to enter my mind more than I'd like to admit. God's retraining my mind, body, heart & soul to see the world completely different! How I've seen things done all my life, how I've done things most of my life.  It can be very overwhelming at times! And when it is, what better way to release it to HIM then with prayer! I pray this blesses you as well! Feel free to copy and/or print these prayers, if you’d like. ~ I pray, Lord, that You would build my marriage, my family, and my homeschool — and that I would not try to do so on my own.   ~ Psalm 127:1 ~ Father, prepare my heart to pour out to You like water for the lives of my children. ~ Lamentations 2:19 ~ I pray that Your ...

A New Chapter....

Almost 10 years ago I was saved & baptized before God, my husband, family & friends. Since then the Holy Spirit has done some amazing things through me & my life. The Spirit has helped me drop addictions, look at life through spiritual goggles, truly seek His truth, & question why we (the world) do this & why we (the world) do that. God has blessed my husband & I with four amazing children! Since my last child started school, I've felt a deep emptiness when they would get on the bus to head off to public school. Their first 5 or 6 years I was the one showing, teaching, seeking & learning with them along the way! I felt as if I no longer had a purpose! Sure when they came back to me at the end of the day I felt complete again. Waiting to hear how their day was, did they make a new friend, what did they learn? When they walked in that front door my world was complete again! I honestly can't explain, this has been something that's been on my h...

Goodbye 2012

Image
What?! Are you serious?! Hard to believe that 2012 has come and will be gone at midnight tonight! It seems as if the time gets faster & faster the older I get. My kids are growing like wildflowers before our eyes & there's nothing we can do to stop it or slow it down! In my young 35 years, I'm learning to take each day as if it's my last. However, most times I forget, take life for granted & the people in my daily life. Then I look at my husband & children & realize that's the key.....make sure they know how much I love them! Allot of great things happened & some not good things happened in 2012. A dear friend of ours passed away after a 15 month battle with cancer. Our oldest daughter got her drivers license, turned 18, graduated high school & then moved out. We finally found a church home after 3 years of looking. We enjoyed our yearly Spring Break camping with our kids at Meridian State Park. Rob's Aunt Susie passed away ...

Rob's 40th Birthday Party

Image
It's been a long while since my last post. Lots of things always going on & really don't have an excuse other than I don't lead an exciting life. Starting the month of October I started working on my husband's 40th birthday party. Boy, am I glad that's over with! Note to self: NEVER plan a party the week of Thanksgiving! I spent the entire week with his mom helping with Thanksgiving dinner that was gone in 45 minutes! What a blessed life I have!! I love doing parties, especially for those I hold very dear! I spent many hours making an 1972 timeline, 40 years worth of pictures to make a slide show, decorations, food, & a good bit of money! It took 2 months of me saving up my "blow money" to help pay for his party. So thankful that Rob's parents helped pay for some of it, I honestly wouldn't have been able to do it alone. The Invitation A big thank you to all that came early to make food & helped set up, helped throughou...
